As a parent, your goal is to train your child so that he can successfully accomplish potty training. So what does it take to become successful? Here are the top 10 potty training tips to success.

1. Always show your child a happy face. Not only should you show a smiling face but you also respond to your child positively. A sense of humor will also do the trick so that your child will think of potty training as an exciting activity.

2. Don’t do things too fast - try to do things slow as much as possible. Using the potty is something new for your child. You can start by showing your child that everyone is using the toilet and let the child see how it is done.

3. Use words of encouragement and praise. When your child has accomplished something new in potty training give appreciation to what he has done it might be little for you but to your child, it’s something to celebrate.

4. When it is time to go do it, you need to get to the potty as fast as possible. When he is done, give him the opportunity to flush the toilet himself. Don’t forget to teach your child to wash his hands afterwards because hygiene is also part of the training.

5. Give your child a reason extra motivation with his potty training by giving prizes like an extra bed time story or a treat of some kind when they have had a successful period and never forget to use words of encouragement.

10. And, finally, if your child just isn’t mastering the process then you must decide whether to stop the potty training. This is because your child might not be physically, mentally and/or emotionally ready for the potty training.
